Environmentally-friendly hotel

We strive to make each and every guest feel at home with maximum comfort and happiness whilst respecting our planet’s delicate environmental balance. We are aware that a satisfied guest is also one who lives in harmony with nature. In response to the increasing societal awareness of environmental degradation and the warnings from ecologists, each of us is paying more attention to how we can live better in harmony with the natural world around us.

How we take care of the environment?

We want to reduce our environmental footprint while simultaneously improving the guest experience. We have implemented green initiatives into everyday activities by introducing:

in-shower dispensers with bath gel and shampoo to replace single-use plastic toiletry bottles reducing the environmental impact of plastic waste
bottled water in returnable glass bottles from a local supplier ( available in rooms)
no more printing materials – we have rendered obsolete the traditional print version of the hotel guest directory, room service menu and marketing materials. They are available on our in- room hotel TV information channel.
keeping the room curtains closed during hot summer days to maintain a cool temperature and prevent the room from overheating reducing the need to use the A/C and conserving energy
biodegradable drinking straws – we use biodegradable straws in all bars to reduce environmental impact of straw usage.

In addition, our Hotel is committed to the implementation of proactive measures to help protect and care for the local and global environment. In recent years, as one of the sponsors, we have supported the “Zbieraj z klasa” campaign organized by the European Recycling Platform – the largest recycling campaign in Poland directed at children and youths. Students from all types of educational institutions in Poland can take part in the campaign of collecting and recycling used batteries and electronic equipment.

Together, we can take care of our planet, which is why we encourage our guests to:

drink tap water.
Believing that tap water is unhealthy is a popular common myth. The high quality water in Kolobrzeg does not come from surface water; it is obtained from a deep well. Our water is systematically controlled by the Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Laboratory in Kołobrzeg, which is the holder of the Research Laboratory Accreditation Certificate. Their water tests are confirmed in impartial third-party audits by the superior institutions like District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Kołobrzeg and Świdwin. Tap water has better properties than bottled water. Therefore, we encourage our guests to drink tap water, and to help it become a common practice, we limit the number of water dispensers and plastic cups and encourage our guests to use their own reusable water bottles that can also be purchased from us. Enjoy tap water that’s just as clean, tasty and convenient to use as bottled water. reuse towels and bed linen.
Every day in hotels around the world, huge amounts of bed linen and towels are washed. Detergents as well as water and energy consumption have a negative impact on the environment. Let’s take care of our planet together. To avoid unnecessary replacement of towels or bed linen, guests can decide whether they wish to have them changed. Our housekeeping will replace towels if they are left on the floor and bed linen if a printed card is placed on the bed requesting housekeeping to change the linens.

From design and construction stages through to its responsible day to day operations, the eco-friendly hotel AQUARIUS SPA***** has made important environmental improvements to its structure in order to make efficient use of resources, optimize energy efficiency and limit water consumption for maximum reduction of its environmental impact.

Lighting

Managing the lighting system extends the vitality of light sources, light bulbs and fluorescents threefold. In the lobbies, corridors and our gastronomic base, the latest and most modern solution of multi-step lightening and darkening lights via sensors is employed.

In the conference rooms, you’ll find light in the colour that, according to research, is the most favourable for focus and concentration.

Heating

We used, among others, a system of air-conditioning with heat recovery, which warms the hotel’s pools and usable water. Thanks to this, it is possible to save energy by approximately 30%.

Noiseless air-conditioning throughout the entire hotel was chosen in accordance with the parameters of the rooms, and adapted to their individual character.

Air-conditioning

The hotel’s air-conditioning is based on a sensor system, which takes into consideration all internal and external emissions of heat and moisture. The automatically controlled heating system makes it possible to adjust the temperature to one’s individual needs. This so-called “dry” air-conditioning system works anti-bacterially, making it friendly to the human body. The use of ice water instead of Freon to cool the system down is friendly to the environment.

Energy

An intelligent energy management system is installed in the hotel, allowing for the reduction of energy use, as well as lower emissions of greenhouse gases.

Water

We draw upon that which nature provides, which is why we collect rainwater at our hotel. We use it to water plants around the hotel, including the hotel garden. All of the faucets that are found in the hotel feature special inserts; thanks to these inserts, there is an increase in water flow via substantial aeration. This process allows for the reduction of water use by a minimum of 15%, and up to as much as 60%.

The entire hotel uses specially softened water. Thanks to this, we use less detergent and other cleaning agents, save energy, and gain the extended vitality of our devices. Our guests also feel greater comfort whilst bathing.

Decor

In choosing the interior elements of the hotel, we strove to ensure that all accessories would be environment-friendly. So it happened in the case of the carpet—among other things—that we used for our “Horyzont” restaurant and the Beauty Center.

The chosen material is biodegradable and renewable. The top part of the carpet can be used again; only the undercoat needs to be replaced.

Beauty Center

Treatments at the Beauty Center are carried out using ecological products and preparations, which are not tested on animals. Massages are carried out using oils that do not contain preservatives, while natural essential oils are used for baths.

Gastronomy

Our chefs use fresh foods supplied by local farmers and producers. In creating menus, we use seasonal products, promoting regional delicacies. Wild boar and mushrooms come from local forests, while fish is freshly-caught. The high quality of the dishes we serve is backed by the prestigious Slow Food Poland certificate.

Electric car charging station

In the parking lot in front of the hotel there is a charging station for electric cars, namely the model Garol LS4. Charging of the vehicle along with payment of fees is done via the Ev Plus mobile app.
